I've been a member for several months and have had two successful housesits with two more coming up.

I've noticed some really rude and insulting ads placed for housesitters. Usually I send a note to Ian and he blocks them. But it seems like I'm the only one doing this and I don't want to be a complainer.

However, I'm still finding ads that are insuling and demeaning to housesitters. I have resisted writing to them directly, because I don't want them complaining toIan about me!

But I'm always very curious as to whether or not these people ever get anyone to housesit for them, and if so, are they as rude and insulting in person as they are in writing?

Anyone know what I mean? Stories?

I just joined the site a couple days ago and found the perfect house sit...only I couldn't see the contact information for the request so I thought I had to become a full member in order to be able to contact the ad poster, which I did. at the end of the ad they say to give them a call...but I still can't see any contact information with a number or an email. So I sent a notification email through the service but I'm just wondering if I'm missing something...as it was pointed out that most ad posters requesting house sitters don't actually use the site inbox but prefer to contact sitters directly...any help?

Hi:

I am realtively new to housesitting and this website. I have a few basic questions about becoming a housesitter abroad in Paris.

1. How do I post my resume on the website to ensure securing a housesitting job?
2. What steps should I take to increase my chances of getting a housesitting job in Paris and the outerlying suburbs?
3. I'm open to any advice and suggestions other experienced housesitters may have in general.

Thanks very much and have a wonderful week,

La-Verne

I joined this fine site a few months back, primarily to hopefully get a house sit in Portugal.
I soon realised there are no house sits in Portugal, but it does say that not everyone actually puts their houses on,and just because there are no sits,it doesn't mean there are no house sit opportunities. The site says that hosts look through the lists of sitters.

So I went to the Portugal list of sitters and there are quite a lot,300 or so,but I am not there.

Can someone explain why I am not on he list of sitters please.

I have registered and paid.

Many thanks.

Zolabud.

It is easy to add a hyperlink - just click the little chain link icon when you want to insert one in your post. The first time you click you have to first respond to the browser alert to temporarily allow scripting then click the chain link again to put in your link.

Also it is a good idea to add a signature to your posting (can also include a hyperlink) And pick your own avetar, or upload you own (the nerdy guy is the default if you do nothing) . All this is done by clicking the profile link top right of forum.

Ian
